Electricity can be supplied to a small construction site through a temporary connection<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A builder\u2019s temporary provides builders and other tradespeople an electricity supply on-site where there is no existing connection to an electricity network. Only a licensed electrical worker can install, connect, modify or move a builder\u2019s temporary.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>What certifications and inspections are required?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Before you can use a builder\u2019s temporary, an electrician must give you<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A certificate of Compliance (CoC)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A Record of Inspection (RoI)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">An Electrical Safety Certificate (ESC)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These documents guarantee that the builder\u2019s temporary meets New Zealand\u2019s electrical safety standards. The builder\u2019s temporary must be assessed by a qualified electrical worker at least every six months. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>Where should a builder\u2019s temporary be located?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A builder\u2019s temporary should be located close to where the electrical work will be carried out. Consider where most of the electrical work on-site will be done and how connections can be made without using too many extension leads\u00a0 &#8211; which can be a potential electrical and trip hazard. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Working with other PCBU\u2019s on-site<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PCBU\u2019s and contractors working on the same site must, so far as is reasonably practicable, work together to manage electrical safety risks. Have a discussion about how electricity will be supplied and used in areas where your health and safety duties may overlap. This will help to prevent any gaps in managing health and safety risks.
