COVID Update: Wellington moving to Alert Level 2

In case you missed this afternoon’s news, Minister Chris Hipkins announced that as of 6pm tonight, Wellington will be moving into Alert Level 2 until 11.59pm on Sunday 27th of June, following a positive case being identified from a Sydney traveler. The Wellington area includes the Wairarapa, Kapiti Coast and Otaki.

What does Alert Level 2 look like?
We’ve been here before, so we know the fundamentals and the restrictions that will be in place across sites. Here’s a recap of what you need to do:

On site this means you need to :

  • Keep a one metre distance between workers
  • Keep a record of who is working together and who comes onto the site
  • Limit interaction between groups of workers for example, stagger meal breaks
  • Avoid sharing items and disinfect surfaces including tools and machinery
  • Ensure everyone continues maintaining high hygiene standards including thoroughly washing hands.

If you’re entering a home or other workplace

  • Keep a one metre distance with the occupants
  • Keep a record of where you have been and who you have been in contact with
  • Avoid sharing items and disinfect surfaces including tools and machinery
  • Ensure you continue to maintain high hygiene standards including thoroughly washing your hands.

Remember to keep a two metre distance when in public and in retail stores. It is recommended to wear face coverings where social distancing cannot be followed.

Contact tracing must be in place to record everyone you interact with at your workplace. Remember to use the Government QR COVID Tracer app for contact tracing purposes and the HazardCo scanner for your worksite health and safety needs.

You can refer to our Alert level 2 guidelines, which gives a detailed breakdown on what you need to do and when or refer to CHASNZ Level 2 checklist.

A full list of contact tracing locations of interest has been released, which you can view here. If you have visited any of these locations during this timeframe, then stay home and if you have cold or flu symptoms, call your doctor or Healthline and get a COVID-19 test.

It’s important to us that you’re safe and understand the restrictions in place, so get in touch if you’d like to chat, you can give us a call on 0800 555 339 or email info@hazardco.com.
