It\u2019s referring to the process of checking if your contractors are competent and work safely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>As a building company, what do I need to do?<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your obligations as the principal contractor are pretty straightforward. First, you need to make sure contractors have the right skills and experience to do the job, and second, you need to make sure they are going to carry out the work safely. Once they are on board, you also need to monitor if the contractor is following good health and safety practices on-site.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Collecting evidence of this process is important so we recommend putting a system in place so nothing falls through the cracks.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What you should be asking your contractors for:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><strong><i>Pre-qualification company checks once a year:<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ABN number and company details<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Insurance (work cover \/ income protection \/ public liability)<\/li>\n<li>A health and safety policy and evidence they follow good processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><i>Pre-site induction of workers:<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">White card<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Trade qualifications and experience<\/li>\n<li>High Risk Work License<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><i>On-site induction of workers:<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Have they read and agreed to the site specific safety plan?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Have they been made aware of any hazards on-site?<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Are they bringing any hazards on-site?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><i>On-site health and safety:<\/i><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a yardstick, good health and safety on-site would be your contractor completing at least two Toolbox Meetings and four Risk Assessments a month plus a SWMS any time high-risk construction work is carried out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>How to stay on top of all these checks:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Stay on top of these checks with an automated system.<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Get peace of mind your contractors are good to go, with an automated system to pre-qualify your contractors, check insurance, trade qualifications and more.
