dust<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If your crew cuts, drills, grinds, or polishes concrete, bricks, tiles, or any other silica-containing material, this change affects you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What is the Silica Worker Register?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The SWR is an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.safework.nsw.gov.au\/notify-safework\/silica-worker-register-notification?utm_source=stakholder+EDM&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=SWR_launch_EDM\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">online register<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> where businesses (PCBUs) must record details of any worker carrying out <\/span><b>high-risk silica work<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This helps SafeWork NSW track exposure, monitor worker health, and prevent silicosis and other dust-related diseases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Key start date<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: 1 October 2025<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Timeframe:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> You must register a worker <\/span><b>within 28 days<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of them starting high-risk silica work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Who needs to be registered?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You\u2019ll need to register any <\/span><b>worker<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> who performs high-risk silica tasks, such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cutting, grinding, drilling or polishing materials with crystalline silica<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tunnelling, demolition, quarrying, or manufacturing using silica-rich materials<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you\u2019re unsure whether work is high-risk, play it safe and register your workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What details you need to provide<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You\u2019ll need to enter details for both your business and the worker, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Business name, ABN, contact info<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Worker\u2019s name, date of birth, and contact info<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Worksite location and start date<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Health monitoring provider (if applicable)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Why it\u2019s important<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The register is part of NSW\u2019s effort to reduce <\/span><b>silica-related disease<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and improve worker safety across construction and trades.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Failing to register can lead to <\/span><b>penalties<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> but more importantly, this is about
